Young Artist Camp

June 24th – August 23rd, 2024

See your young artist thrive at our Young Artist Summer Camp program! Students will explore a variety of visual, sculptural, and mixed-media arts each week. Each week features a different theme led by our team of teaching artists. On Fridays, campers will have the opportunity to share their work and to speak with a guest artist. This program is designed for ages 6-13. Programming begins at 8AM and concludes at 5:30PM each day.

Limited partial scholarships are available, email Katrina at for more information. We are unable to offer full-ride scholarships for our summer program this year. Multiple payment plans will be offered this year to accommodate increased tuition.

Sculpture Camp

Session #1: July 10 – July 21, 2024

Immerse your camper in the world of sculpture this summer! This two-week camp will equip kids with the foundational skills to pursue a variety of different 3D mediums. Specifically ceramics, papier mache, and fibers. Campers will finish the session with 3 distinct projects in each medium, perfect for kids interested in starting to build their portfolio. This program is designed for ages 10-14.

Art Fundamentals Camp

Camp Dates: July 29th – August 9th, 2024

This two-week camp focuses on true fine art fundamentals. Led by artist and educator Katrina Simonsen, students will focus on two art mediums per week in this structured program. The first week will explore drawing and acrylic painting, the second will focus on printmaking and sculpture. This camp is designed for students with a strong interest and dedicated commitment to growing as artists. The class structure is a blend of technique exercises and multi-day projects with students having the option to use what they’ve learned for independent projects as well. 

This program is designed for ages 11-14. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Our camp day begins at 8:30AM and ends at 3PM. 

This program is two weeks in length, but there are registration options for Week 1(Drawing and Painting) or Week 2 (Printmaking & Sculpture).

Summer Programs Cancellation Policy

At The Arts League, we understand that your childcare plans may change. We have updated our cancellation/refund policy as follows:

  • Registration deposits are non-refundable. The exact amount is 20% of tuition which is $90 per enrolled week.
  • Families can receive a refund of the remaining tuition amount up until Monday, June 3rd.

What time does camp begin each day? What time does camp end?

The camp day runs from 9 AM – 3 PM. After 3 PM campers have structured free time that consists of self-guided crafting, outdoor time, and/or resting in our cool-down area. Parent pick-up is between 4 PM and 5:30 PM. Please note this is different from our school year programs, and campers picked up after 5:30 PM will be charged a late fee.

What are your COVID-19/illness policies this summer?

Masking will be optional and strictly at your camper’s comfort. However, if a camper shows any signs of COVID-like symptoms or illness, we will call home to arrange for immediate pick-up. This protocol is the same for strep, lice, or pink eye. When registering your kiddo please be sure to provide working phone numbers for each guardian contact listed.

Are breakfast and lunch provided? How many snacks will my camper receive? Is there a kitchen on-site?

We participate in a free food program (NDS) that does not feature options or flexibility in what we receive each day. The meals are peanut and pork-free. If your child is a particular eater or has specific dietary restrictions please pack your child’s lunch each day. We will have snacks and water available on site though we do not have a kitchen.

How many campers can enroll in a session? Does the camp sell out? My child wants to enroll in the same week as their friend, can we make that happen?

Our Young Artist Camp capacity is 35 students and our specialty camp capacity is 10 students. Camp sessions do sell out and as such we are unable to hold spaces or increase program capacity. If you would like to ensure your camper is with friends we strongly recommend coordinating with them directly before registering. Registration typically closes the Thursday before the upcoming camp week begins.

How are the campers divided into groups? If my camper doesn’t like their group or the activity can they switch?

Campers are grouped based on age (i.e. 6-8 year olds, 9-11 year olds, 11+). Unlike our school year programming, kids are not able to transfer or switch to other activities. Our camp programming is project-based, not class-based with all projects being catered to their age group specifically.

My child has a need for accommodations during the program. How can I communicate these needs?

At The Arts League we do have experience working with neurodivergent children and/or children in need of program accommodations. To best prepare we ask that parents/guardians provide these details upon registration and reach out to Alana, our Education Programs Manager at If you are unsure if your child would be a good fit for our program, we are more than happy to provide a tour and meeting to understand their needs best. We work with families to establish care plans and support instructions to be communicated discreetly to our staff. It is important to note that our classroom environment will have two counselors at a time. We do not have the staffing capacity to provide a one-to-one for students. Our mission is to provide an enjoyable arts experience for your kiddo and we’d love to work with you to ensure that happens.

My child has experienced bathroom accidents in the past, what should I do?

Accidents happen! To best support your kiddo we ask that you pack them a change of clothes and communicate these concerns with us before programming begins. Given that students will be working with a variety of messy art supplies this summer, we encourage all families to bring a change of clothes for their kiddos. We have three bathrooms located in our building for students. For our youngest campers, if an accident does occur, they will be responsible for changing their clothes without counselor help. Please make sure that you pack clothes that are easy to change into.

Do you offer a sibling discount or multi-week registration discount?

My child is 5 years old. Can I enroll them?

No. In previous years we have accepted 5-year olds but after many conversations with our staff, counselors, and our constituents in childcare we have decided to raise the age minimum to 6-years old. If you are looking for daycare or childcare for children under the age of 6 we recommend our friends at the Parent Infant Center, Salamander Arts, or Play Arts. Camp is not a drop-in style program and thus campers who miss a day here or there will not be eligible for refunds or credits.

I just registered online. Will I receive additional paperwork?

Yes. Camp families will receive a packet that includes all pertinent information regarding the daily schedule, staffing, policies, and procedures the week before camp starts. Each Sunday families will receive an email detailing any new or important information for that particular week of camp. This year all parents and guardians will be invited to a camp open house to meet staff and talk through details. This will be hosted sometime in June.

Do I need to register for the entire week?

Yes. This is not a drop-in-style program.

Is there a waitlist for sold-out sessions?

Yes. Those on the waitlist will be notified if space opens up.
