THE UNIVERSITY CITY ARTS LEAGUE STANDS IN SOLIDARITY AND SUPPORT OF OUR ASIAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY as we grapple with ongoing racism, xenophobia, and anti-Asian sentiments and violence. We are saddened by the mass shooting in Atlanta last month and mourn for the victims’ families, and the continuing violent hate crimes against Asian Americans. These grim acts of hatred have left us feeling lost as we deal with how we can support our Asian American students, teaching artists, staff, and board members–all of whom are our family. We can affirm that the Arts League is a place where everyone belongs. We see you, we will listen to you, and we will welcome you with open arms to work, create, share, and be in a safe and supportive space at the Arts League. This has been our mission and goal since 1967. Now more than ever we will stand up against acts of intolerance and racism. The Arts League will continue to do all it can to improve the quality of all lives in our community.
To this end, we are happy to announce that Arts League leadership is making a pledge to donate to the Anti-Defamation League and the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund in our name. Please join us in donating if you can, we know you will join us in spirit.
